The combo system and time requirements man. I love the cool animations for all the attacks and hell sometimes I like the power trip from smackin enemies around with Umbran Climax but ugh. I love both games but I often become incredibly frustrated with the second for things like this. I should mention that I don't have a hate fetish for the game. Sloth requires its own post for how stupid it is.) Also enemies having stupidly fast attacks that I can't even react to is not great (Greed in particular. You can pure platinum bayo 1 with the shitty Handguns but you can't even get close to that in Bayo 2 with her signature weapons. A lot of the game has become "oh damn nice combo bro but can you do it in a quarter of the time" like jesus fuck im tired of using Salamandra + Alruna for everything. I was just doing chapter 8 and i got to verse 13 where you have to run up the staircase to avoid the hand, and I got a gold for time. Im a little over halfway done with it but im getting tired. I often half to cheese bosses with BoT to get things going. I've been really pushing to use Scarborough Fair with Love Is Blue bc its a really fun weapon setup, but there are many times when I can't because the game just wasn't made that way.
In theory playing efficiently sounds fine, but in practice its been draining. Its more about playing efficiently than stylishly or fun. The game forces you to use certain weapons to meet time or combo requirements and its just ridiculous. Pure platinuming this game is just not fun. But holy shit I didnt know I'd be in for it this hard. So I then decided that I should pure plat Bayo 2 on NSIC as well, cause although I have some gripes with the game, its still good fun. I recently Pure Platinumed Bayo 1 on NSIC, and it was pretty god damn hard, but it was actually fun.
